A Very Large Plec

June 24, 2010

My nephew Plec

The above Plec belong to one of my nephew. He got the above fish from me 7 years ago and it was only 2 inches in length at that time. It is now 20 inches in length and still growing.

My nephew moved the other week and the ammonia in his aquarium went sky high, so he came to me for help. I told him to bring them up to my place untill his ammonia went down and his tank was cycle. We left a couples of very small fish in his aquarium, plus I add Ammo-lock to his water.

The pictures is not the best, but you can get a idea of how big he is.

Red Cherry Shrimps

June 24, 2010

A couples of months ago I brought 30 Red Cherry Shrimps, from a woman in the city.  They are still doing good and as I was checking my aquariums this morning, I see that I got more young from them. This is my second spawn from my Red Cherry Shrimps, as far as I can tell.

I have two aquariums of Red Cherry Shrimps and I am thinking about setting up another aquarium for them.

Red Cherry Shrimps is very easy to keep. Most others fish will eat them, so most peoples keep them in their own aquarium. They like to have plenty of live plants to.

Water Testing

June 23, 2010

As most peoples with fish aquariums know, when you set up a new aquarium, it need to cycle. The ammonia will begin going up. This is normal.

If you get your tropical fish and supplies from me, I will test your water for free. There are 3 main things that you need to test for, they are, Ammonia, Nitrite and pH.

Each breed of fish need a certain pH, if it is to do good. If the pH goes to high or to low, your fish may die. This is why you need to check your pH from time to time.

There are lots of others things that you can test for but Ammonia, Nitrite and pH are the 3 main ones that you need to keep your eyes on.

Spawning Fancy Guppys

June 21, 2010

Over the years I had spawn 1000′s of Guppys. They are very easy to spawn.  Most peoples will tell you that it takes anywhere from 21 to 30 days for a guppy to have young. This is only partly true. If the guppy is left to do what she want, then it is true. They will have youngs whenever they feel like it.

If you know what to do, it is possible to have your guppys spawn every 21 days, just like clock work.  In order for them to have youngs every 21 days, you need to give them what they need. If you know what you are doing and do everything correct, you will have young every 21 days from your guppy female.

I am not putting a details on here of how to do it but it is possible and easy to do. I am not sure if the details is on the net. If it is I had never seen it. I got it from a tropical fish book.
